Our Background
River Rock Records was founded by Nashville-trained audio engineer, composer, and pianist Shelby Lock in 2021. Having the ears of a classically-trained musician allows her to pick up on musical nuances and subtleties beyond the typical technicalities involved with being an engineer. A solo piano recording artist herself, she knows what it's like to be on both sides of the glass and knows how to put artists at ease.
As an award-winning composer, Shelby has extensive knowledge of a variety of instruments and knows how real instruments should sound. With years of engineering experience, Shelby can make sure that sound comes across in your recordings.
Since 2019, Shelby has also served as Lead Audio Engineer for Chicago-based classical recording company, Atlas Arts Media. She is a Voting Member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs®) and the Audio Engineering Society. Shelby holds both a BS in Audio Engineering Technology and a BM in Music Composition with Highest Honors from Belmont University in Nashville, TN—one of the world's leading audio engineering programs. Shelby enjoys having a diverse skillset that will allow her to bring your recording projects to life.
